I hope I can explain this without sounding like an idiot.

I shot a video with an HDV camera, but I was actually downconverting upon capture. rather than using the letter-box option, I accidently used the “squeeze” option. When I brought my footage into FCP, it looked great, and the canvas just adjusted to show an 854×480. I did my edit with everything looking the way I wanted it, but when I exported a reference video, it is squeezed into a 720×480 video vertically stretching everything to a 3×4 ratio.

I found a workaround by bringing THAT video into mpegstreamclip which reads it at it’s native 854×480 resolution and I can export from there…but I want to deliver to DVD and would rather just export straight out of FCP. Any ideas?

If you change your DVDSP project to a 16:9 project, then it should work as is, assuming I’m understanding you correctly.

For future exports, you would export using QT conversion, and set the size to 720×480, check the “maintain aspect ratio” box and set to letterbox.

    That should fix it.
