the previous thread got a little side tracked
    here’s my question
    Hi Luke
Is the hardware downconversion of the multibridge extreme as good as the $15,000 option on a HD deck you were talking about?
Also can you get better results in a downconvert in final cut putting an HD clip in a BMD 10 bit SD sequence (easy setup) and rendering out instead of using a decklink extreme for realtime downconvert?
what we were doing was downconverting dvcpro hd 720 23.98 to digibeta
selecting the “letterbox” option in the bmd system pref looked pretty awful on realtime downconvert
outputting 16×9 anamorphic looked much better, so we did that, recaptured the sd from digibeta then converted to letterbox in fcp and output again to letterbox. It worked, but is there a better workflow/quality?
    thanks

are you doing this in hardware or software on the downconvert settings?

software looks awful, always has and I wonder why its even an option.

I’m not sure waht you mean
I have a decklink extreme and my preference window only has a choice of letterbox or 16 x 9
