    Hi All

SO i’m doing a down convert to HD from 2K using DPX sequences. Basically the deliverables are:

    1.78 HD
    1.85 HD
    1.33 HD

So i thought full screen HD is 1.78 so that seems to be fine, 1.33 pillar box is fairly straight forward but how do I position the screen for the 1.85 HD? Is it just letterboxed?

any thoughts or corrections? I’m fairly confused!

    cheers

    L

I’m using FCP6 and Glue Tools is there anything within the software that might help also?

Correct, HD is 1.78 full frame.

1.33 is with black bars on the sides

1.85 is letterboxed (barely. just a handful of pixels off the top and bottom).

Most likely, they mean letterboxed. Who is giving you these specs? That’s the person who you really need to ask.

The client has just given a list of standard deliverables.

HD 1.85 is 1920×1038 so that would mean 21 pixels of black on top and bottom.

HD 2.35 is 1920×818 which is 131 pixels of black on top and bottom

    Can anyone back this up?

[Liam Stephens] “HD 1.85 is 1920×1038 so that would mean 21 pixels of black on top and bottom. “

Actually it was called 1035 and is not used at all any more that was Sony’s first HD format,

“HD 2.35 is 1920×818 which is 131 pixels of black on top and bottom “

2.35 (2:40 according to ARRI) is one of the original widescreen formats

all of these aspect ratio;s are available in Video Filters >Matte > widescreen in FCP
