Developing a doc to be shot 1080p/23.98 with a Panasonic camera system using P2 cards. The resulting full resolution mxf files will be much too large to handle both for storage and to do the creative editing. The show will be edited on a PC sys with Prem Pro CS3 using a BMD HD Extreme card, etc. The sys ( with 4TB/Raid 5) plays back full resolution 1080p files fine provided no effects are applied to the clip. So, the throughput speed is ample to review each mxf file.

So, the question is: How does one down convert mxf files to either low rez 720p avi files, or lower yet to SD avi which contain original TC? I’m guessing there is software (or affordable hardware) that does that.

    Thanks in advance.
