Hi there. Can anyone help me change this setting? For some reason, out of nowhere, double-clicking a precomp on my timeline no longer open the precomp as a composition, but instead opens it as if it’s a piece of footage to be viewed, and when I mouse over the footage I get a circular brush tool to paint black strokes over it. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Did I accidentally change some setting? How can I change it back? It’s very annoying.

    Any help is much appreciated!

You have the Brush tool active. Activate the Selection tool by tapping V on the keyboard or by clicking the arrow all the way at the left of the tool palette.
