  • Donwconvert HDV to DV, Edit in DV, Recapture in HDV?

Is it possible to down-convert HDV to DV, using the down-convert feature of the Sony HDV cameras, edit my project in DV, then at a later time, batch recapture in HDV format for use in an HD DVD?

This seems like a very simple workflow, but I have not seen any talk about it, nor do I find the information in the FCP Studio manuals, of course I have not read them cover to cover… 😉

    Thanks, in advance,
    -Rob

You would basically be using the (current) DV SD edit as your “HDV off-line” edit.
I don’t know why it would not work.

FCP seems to treat HDV different than most (all?) other media. It even has it’s own, different log/capture window.

What I am curious to find out, is if there is a process to offline in DV, then online in HDV, without having to resort to EDLs or some other kludgy work-around.

    Thanks,

Does anyone out there know if this is possible?

Has anybody ever answered this? I still haven’t heard of a workflow that makes more sense for a long project.

No, I still have not found a way to do this…
