Don’t Install X over FCP7!!
As detailed in Richard Harrington’s excellent article “Response to David Pogue” (here on the COW), Apple is actually recommending that we NOT install X over partitions with 7 installed. The document is here:

Like probably many thousands of people, I had heard that it was OK and went ahead and installed it on a brand new clean install (along with tons of other apps and plugins) which I now regret. I am having stability issues on this install. Thanks a lot Apple – would have been nice to know this before I went to all the trouble.

What kind of stability issues have you been seeing? Just like you I installed it on the same drive as FCP 7. Yeah I like to live dangerously (I can easily revert to a previous state though). I haven’t had any problems so far, but maybe I’ve been lucky?
