    All,

Running XP on the MacBookPro is weird, really weird seeing the Windows startup screen makes you laugh!

It all went smoothly and after installing 38 updates and telling it to ignore the “Microsoft recommend you DO NOT install this software” box re the Radeon card, I can now dual boot.

If I can do the firmware update & instal XP then anybody can do it.

Just thought I’d share that with you all 😉

Peter, when you say dual boot, do you mean you have both OSX and Windows XP running at the same time?

You can have both OS on the drive, but you have to decide at boot up which one you want to run. You cannot run them both at the same time. Helped a friend with Bootcamp on his new laptop over the weekend and XP installed with ease. After the install, the switch over time from OSX to XP was just a 1 minute reboot.

As below, no, but wouldn’t it be nice if Leopard could switch between the two like users?

[reel2reel] “Somebody told me Windows XP can be downloaded for free from Microsoft. Is this true?”

completely false. they’re not going to “give” Apple users a free copy of XP. Boot Camp is free.

It was actually a windoze user that told me this, a salesperson at Best Buy. The topic wasn’t Apple. He said that Microsoft is offering XP home edition for free to promote the MS operating system. Maybe his brain was fried, then???
