DOF with Card Dance
I am messing around with a technique I saw Belief use on a Discover Health promo, it had a series of small video clips arranged in 3D space and then the camera pulled out to reveal a full screen image made up of the smaller clips…anyway I was wonder if you can take advantage of DOF with the Card Dance effect? I know I can use the Comp camera but the DOF doesn’t seem to affect it?? Any input would be appreciated. thanks and God bless

Unless there’s a DOF switch within the Card Dance effect parameters, you’re stuck. AE’s DOF (within the camera) only affects layers in space.
A layer with Card Dance applied is still just one flat layer to AE. The Card Dance effect just makes a fancy Card Dancey “movie” on that one layer.

You can use a work around to incorporate DOF into the card dance effect. I can’t really test this out right now, as I don’t have time, but try applying the “Compound Blur” effect to the same layer that is using card dance. Then set compound blur’s “blur layer” to the same layer that is controling the Depth of your clips within the card dance effect. I don’t know how good this will look though, as I have no time to test it right now.
