Does Vegas support m4a/aac audio files?
I drag files from my Apple Itunes folder and put them on the Vegas 6d timeline. On the properties tab they show up as “aac” format, also m4a. During playback there are little pops and crunch noises that come and go, especially at the beginning of the file. I think I’ve trimmed them out, then others show up elsewhere, then disappear. Doesn’t seem to happen with mp3’s. Any ideas? Oh, almost forgot. When Vegas was building peaks for some of these tunes, the app froze and had to shut down.

Delete the waveform (sfk) files, and let them rebuild. Then, let us know what happens.

Tried rebuilding the peaks, still get the blips. Typically they are at the very end or very beginning. It shows in the waveform. Sometimes they show up in other areas. Sometimes they go away during the same session. I did an mp2 render that sounded fine, but after sending it through DVDA to a DVD I could hear a glitch at the beginning of what used to be the m4a file.
