  • Does Vegas have a project length limit?

I am editing a HDV multicam shoot of over 4 hours in Vegas 10c x64 of a sporting event. I am not even switching yet. I am into the 3rd hour and am doing rough cuts to remove unnecessary footage between races across 4 tracks. The first simple cut and ripple delete is fine. I do a second cut and ripple delete and the spinning wheel appears (no message, just stops responding). Waiting does not help. Upgraded to 10e and it does the same.

I have tried machine restarts. I really don’t want to use Vegas 11 due to the high number of rendering issues being reported here. I am running out of options . I have to do 60+ more of these ripple deletes!

Any clue as to what may be going on? It was fine last night.

My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

    No,No project length limit.
Since it was working fine, have you uninstalled any
of its filters or script? Or you can try using the
Vegas 10.0e 32bit version and see if it handles it.

I haven’t had any of the problems with version 11. I cut 4 tracks every week. I once laid out a 72 hour project on the timeline. It was audio only.

10e does the same. No new plug-ins.

I have gone to the latest version of 11. Hopefully my usual multicam workflow with Ultimate S will not bomb out during renders. I have done projects in V11, but not multicam.

I have recently replaced my project drives with 2 x 2TB (mirrored), hopefully there is no issue there. I have done a couple of projects since the upgrade, including a stage show multicam shoot that went on for 2.5 hours, but that was in 10c.

    Nigel,

I’m doing my multicam cuts with Ultimate S also. My from drive is 2x2TB(striped) and my to drive is a 3TB. My system drive is an SSD.

Done any large multicam projects with Ultimate S and SVP 11? I am currently working on one that is 5 hours long which I will split during the render stage.

    Nigel,

The largest I had was 2:40 and only 3 cameras. But I think my rig would’ve handled it. I have had zero problems, lucky I guess.
