Does TV-Safe apply to Cinema Screens?
Hi,
I just put my movie onto DVD, and burnt it a million times. Then as I played it back on my iMac, I noticed about 2 pixels worth of error down the left side of the image. Will this show up on TV’s or when its being projected onto a big screen?
Basically its a line on the very left of the image, that runs vertically from top to bottom. WHen I look at it in FCP its – of course- way inside the TV safe guideline. But will this show up on the big screen when in the film festival?

You never know unless you check the display that your DVD will be playing on. Some projectors are really full frame monitors, other have cutoff more like traditional TVs. Every brand is different.

Well, you might just want to crop those 2 pixels, no matter what.
But this is more important- go to your local multiplex. Watch a movie. While your watching, take a minute (during a dull part, of course!) to look at the black curtains that hang at the top, bottom, right & left of the screen. Odds are that you’ll see some of the picture is on one of those curtains! So yes, action safe matters on cinema screens.
