Does Premiere CS3 use multiple CPUs for export?
As the title says, does Premiere use multiple CPUs? My boss is concerned that upgrading from a 3.0 ghz Pentium 4 to a Quad Core or a Dual Quad Core will not increase export time very much. I’ve been trying to get him to upgrade the computer for a while now, but some guy tells him that Premiere doesn’t use multiple CPUs, where I’ve read some different things on the Internet. Is there a definitive answer?

the term being used is what’s causing the problem. CPU is not the same as Core. 1 x CPU can have multiple Cores. C2Quad example.
You will bet a huge render and export + pre-render (red) Quality playback. CPU’s would imply it renders over several computers like in 3D rendering… that is not supported in PPro.

Basicaly, yes. If you run a dual Quad, it will use all Cores on both CPUs.
