Does not seem to render properly in Sony Vegas Pro 12

What type of help are you looking for? You want a smaller final file size? Rendering doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll end up with a smaller file. You are usually just changing from one type of file to another (along with other changes).

What type of file is the original? What do you want as a final? Don’t expect to get a 40% smaller file size just because your final render is a lower resolution.

The original file is mp4. I know sometimes you wont get like 40% reduction in size, but it doesnt make sense to me that if I’m lowering the bitrate and resolution and quality, I end up with a file size even huge than the original one.

The only thing that matters is the bit rate. It doesn’t matter what the resolution is. The bit rate determines the file size because it controls how many bits per second will be used to represent the video regardless of resolution.

The original file size doesn’t make sense to me. You said it was encoded at 16Mbps for 35 minutes. If you do the math, 16,000,000 bits divided by 8 bits in a byte gives you 2,000,000 bytes (2MB) per second. There are 2,100 second in 35 minutes so 2,100 x 2,000,000 yields 4,200,000,000 bytes or 4.2GB and that’s for the video without any audio. So I don’t see how your original file is only 3.7GB. I’m guessing that the average bit rate was lower than 16Mbps.

The file was originated through Avermedia LGP Free Mode, which creates a file in mp4 format at 1920x1080p 16mbps 30fps. Anyhow I think the problem will be my processor which renders fine any resolution except for 1280x720p or higher.
