I’ve downloaded a few images from Shutterstock that are listed as having clipping paths, but when I import them into Motion 4, there is no transparency. Does Motion actually understand clipping paths?

No, you need to use Photoshop to cut out the background and then save to a format that maintains the transparency (alpha) information, like .psd or .png. I’d recommend .png.

Thanks Mark. I’ve barely touched Photoshop in years, and I only ever did very basic stuff with it back then, but presumably there’s a specific process for using it to convert a clipping path to an alpha channel?

Yes, you load the path as a mask, invert the selection, and delete the background (make sure to make the layer editable first by double-clicking it).
