does “make clip independent” create a new media file on hard drive?

It makes a clip independent of other instances of the clip… i.e making a clip independent in the timeline, then changing it’s name, wouldn’t change the master clip’s name it came from in the browser.

No extra media created, just the relationship between it and any other “affliate” clips is lost.
