  • Does HDLink Pro perform a Legal to Extended Range conversion?

Posted by Antoine D’artemare on April 15, 2013 at 12:33 pm

I have a technical question about the HDLink Pro DVI. I know it does a YUV to RGB signal adaptation, but what does it do with black and white levels? Does it do nothing, or does it perform a Legal=Video Range (64-940) to Full =Extended =Unscaled Range (0-1023) conversion ?

I asked this because I don’t find any information about this important point in any place, even in the manual. Aja converters are more clear about this point.

And please can anyone confirm that the option called “Scale to view illegal YUV colors” in the Preferences of the HDLink Utility is an option to desactivate this conversion 64-940>0-1023, allowing to show the full unscaled=extended range (0-1023).

    Thanks,

    Antoine
