  • Does HD some in PAL AND NTSC flavors??

Posted by Joseph Wilkins on March 11, 2008 at 10:44 pm

I have a client in Australia who wants to air a TV spot I created here in NTSC land.

    The footage is raw DVCPROHD.

What’s the best way to send it to them?

    They want digital quicktime format

    thanks!

Well, then you can conform the spot to 25 using Cinema Tools. Export a self contained of the spot, duplicate that self contained via the finder, then open the dupe cinema tools and hit conform and choose 25.

This will change the timing of your spot (it will be shorter) and your audio will be pitched up, but it will be a clean conversion with no interpolation. See if that will work for them. If not send them the 23.98 spot and they will conform however they see fit.

In answer to your question, yes HD does come in PAL and NTSC flavors.

    1080i/60 is NTSC

    1080i/50 is PAL

    720/60 is NTSC

720/50 is PAL so long as the camera/deck is set up for 25/50 instead of 30/60.
