  • Does Final Cut Server kill compressor app?

Posted by Arnljot Bringedal on June 26, 2008 at 9:48 pm

    Case:

Installed FCS on two mac pros ( The second one as a test ) – to check what FCS does to compressor.

Both macs had FCS2 installed, and compressor worked before install of FCS.

After the install, when we try to launch compressor as a freestanding app, or from FCP, it crashes on launch , or when trying to execute ANY job….

    Reinstalling compressor did no good.

Reinstalling the whole FCS package did no good..

    Thoughts anyone?

We have a Final Cut Server Forum. That would be a better place for this question.

Both Compressor & Motion seem to be sensitive to new FCP service installations. Sometimes they just stop working (in the case of Compressor & Motion) or lose their presets (in the case of Motion). With Compressor, my understanding is that QMaster has quite a lot to do with it. There are very specific procedures for deinstalling/reinstalling to get it back working. This is well documented in the forums.
