Does FCP have movin time line markers?

July 23, 2006 at 1:25 pmno this is not the paradigm that FCP uses for timeline markers. in FCP, when you mark a point in the timeline you are doing exactly that, you are not marking any particular clip instance, be it audio or video, that might lie on one of any number of video or audio tracks at that position in the timeline, you are marking the position in the timeline itself … therefore when you move clips around in the timeline, by whatever method you choose, you are not moving the marker.

As Andy notes, the Timeline markers do not move. If you want particular points in your timeline to be marked as you edit, Mark the Clip at that particular point, not the timeline. When you make your ripple edit, the Marker will slide with the clip.
So if you want to mark a point at 1 minute in, simply mark your Video clip at that 1 minute mark. When you make the ripple delete, the marker will slide back with the video clip so you’ll still have your relative Marker intact.
