    Howdy Cowpokes,

I’m having some issues with Compressor 3.5.1 not doing what it is supposed to… So my question is…
If I drop a movie into an FCP timeline with my desired output settings… will FCP export the movie just as well as if I were to convert in Compressor? I am using XDCAM HD422 1080p30 (50Mb/s) footage and wish to output into Apple ProRes422HQ (for interlaced material).

Here is my original post (https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1061548)

    Thanks,

    -Phil

I have personally not seen any difference between the two when using intermediate codecs, only when compressing for the web or DVD, but then again if the result was exactly the same they hadn’t made compressor in the first place 😉

First, no reason to start two threads for the same topic.

Second, FCP and Compressor both use the exact same compression engine.

I thought Compressor did a much better job scaling when using Frame Controls compared to FCP. In this case there shouldn’t be a change in scale, so that probably doesn’t matter. But what are your thoughts on scaling, Walter?
