Does FCP 6.0.2 supports 59.94 drop frame ?
Posted by Christopher Tay on November 27, 2007 at 3:34 amHi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to edit in 59.94 drop frame with FCP 6.0.2 ?
In FCP 6, it only supports 59.94 non-drop frame.

November 27, 2007 at 3:38 amFCP 6.0.2 now has support for 720p 59.94 drop frame timelines.
And I gave you a workaround on your other question.

And just for frame of reference next time… When you refer to 59.94, that is drop frame. If it were non-drop, it would be 60.

Nope…
We do not work with round integer numbers in NTSC land
while 59.94 is drop frame in 1080i
it can be both Drop and Non Drop in 720p….
the history with Progressive formats is they are usually non drop, interlace is always played out as DF.
23.98 is non drop- the recording method is physically slowed down to match the DF timing for a direct conversion to NTSC for viewing and playback.
