  • Does C4D have a feature that emulates Maya’s Sprite Particles?

I am considering making the switch from Maya to Cd4 and (though I think I know the answer to this question) I wanna know if there is a way to make Sprite Particles in C4D and if someone could share what that way is.

    thanks.

No, not natively. You need plugins for this like StormTracer or use mapped planes as geometry for Thinking Particles.

Thanks so much, Mylenium. I’ve watched a couple of your video tutorials which are really great! Here’s another question: Can you map an alpha channel to that geometry so that the images on the particles are transparent where needed?

Yes. You only need to enable the Alpha property of the material. I know it kinda sucks, but hopefully now that Per-Anders Edwards (who developed StormTracer) works for Maxon directly, we will see something similar cominbg natively to C4D.
