Does Anyone Use Audacity
Posted by Debbie King on December 6, 2013 at 11:37 amHello Everybody:
Also, has anyone ever used Audacity for removing audio noise? I downloaded it, but I’m not exactly sure of how to use it with Sony since it’s not a plugin.

December 8, 2013 at 1:39 amI’ve used Audacity to do sound editing with Vegas MS. You’ll have to render out your audio track to an audio file first, ideally using a format that retains as much of the raw audio as necessary. Certainly you’d want to use settings that at least match the audio quality of your source material.
Anyway, make your edits in Audacity – then export to another new audio file (again – keeping an eye on quality settings). Use that file to replace the audio track in Vegas by either deleting and replacing the original track, or add a new audio track and mute the original.
Of course, you need to be sure your editing doesn’t cut anything out of the timeline, or you’ll have a mess of a time trying to synch things back up. But, if you simply export from Vegas – edit in Audacity – then export again; you should be able to simply drop the track right back into Vegas and have everything still perfectly synched.

December 9, 2013 at 1:51 amYou could go to Options | Preferences | Audio and set the Preferred audio editor to Audigy. Then all you need to do is right-click an audio event and select Open Copy in Audio Editor and you’ll be taken to Audigy with a copy of the audio. When you close Audigy, the altered copy will be added back to Vegas Pro as a Take for you. (at least this is how it works with Sound Forge)

December 12, 2013 at 2:41 pmI have a question related to using Audacity with Sony Vegas/Movie Studio. John – maybe you can help me? I was able to do just what you explained above. However, I find that the new audio track only “sticks” in the timeline. I have many clips to edit and some are quite long. I would like to replace the audio (it has a horrible buzzing noise) and then edit the clip and create smaller subclips. Is there a way to replace bad audio in the timeline and then create a new event that shows up in Project Media? I tried replacing the audio and creating a subclip which then shows in Project Media but when I play it – the old bad audio is still there.
