Does anyone partition drives anymore?
I’ve been editing on Avid systems since ’94, and I’ve always partitioned my media drives. Lately, I’ve heard this is no longer necessary and can even slightly slow down your drive response time. Is this true?
I’ve recently set up a home editing system with Avid Express Pro 5.6.4 on a 2.7 ghz Dual Processor Power PC Mac running OS 10.4.9. I just got a 1tb G-raid 2 firewire drive and I’m wondering if I should partition it.

I’ve half a TB partitioned into 3 volumes. No slowdowns, fewer crashes.
