I just wanted to share an experience that happened a long time ago but reoccured just today with me. I noticed that sometimes when I try to reopen my projects I get an error message saying that there was a problem with ae etc. Man was this a bugger cause I am talking about hours of work & my project was due the next day….I went on to reinstall even strip the system down….but still up came the error message. Now after much panic I cooled down. I notice that the project would load to 97% then crash out. So I assumed then it must be a file that somehow was currupting my project. So I removed the project files from their source location and started up again. My assumption was somewhat correct the project opened but of couse this time it was saying the files were missing etc. Anyhow to cut a longer story short I deduced that it was my audio files….somehow along the line ae suddenly seems to decide that they arent good or what ever. Sometimes all I do is rename the audio file and relink. So hence I am sharing this….does anyone have this experience?….or knows why?

Where they audio-files that AE imported without problem in the first place ?

Because sometimes I use .sd2 files, and AE won’t import them untill I tell it they’re quicktime movies, QT handles them fine.
Then sometimes they won’t load aymore, and I have to re-import. Not sure if they ever crashed me though.

    David,
I can be working with on a project that contains a couple .avi for several days with no problems. Then out of the blue, AE decides it doesn’t like one of the .avi anymore, and won’t render the project. Sucks.

The only “solution” I’ve found is to work with QT audio exclusively.
Not a big help to your problem, but know you’re not alone with AE’s finickiness.

I’ve got a similar problem with all my QT movies that were rendered out via Premiere with a Media100 board… They all crash AE in Tiger (they work on Panther)… the problem is that most my projects use these movies… So far no word from Adobe on whether it can be fixed….
