Does anyone know a good tripod for doing roll moves?

December 7, 2018 at 6:17 amI want to be able to pan and tilt, but also roll, basically when the camera can roll but most tripods that can roll do not have the anchor point of the roll in the middle. Is there one where you can do a roll where the anchor point is in the middle, if that makes sense?

December 7, 2018 at 6:41 pmNo. That’s a custom-built rig for each camera, since they’re all different sizes. The only non-custom way would be to do it with a motorized gimbal like a Movi, and control the roll axis.

December 8, 2018 at 10:17 pmOh okay thanks. There is also those tripods where you can do a 90 degree roll, without the anchorpoint being in the middle, but for some reason manfrotto doesn’t seem to make any and they are not as popular.

December 9, 2018 at 5:31 pmThe tango plate will do that, but that was probably done on a remote head with a third axis.

December 9, 2018 at 5:47 pmOkay thanks. The tango plate is quite costly to get though. If I have to may just get a Zhiyun Crane 2, since I can use it for several things in the future, or just get a tripod, where you can do a 90 degree roll, only the anchor point of the roll is not in the middle, like this one here. Do you think a tripod head like this can perform a good 90 degree roll, or will it not be smooth enough since I think it was meant for still photography maybe?
