  • Does a CUDA approved card IMPROVE export of video

    Hi,

I’m upgrading from CS4 Premiere Pro to CS5.

Our biggest problem has been the rendering times exporting the finished video.

So we decided to go to Windows 7 64 bit, and upgrading the CS4 to CS5.

I understand that will greatly improve the export speed.

We mainly do HD short vids (under 10 min) and it takes sometimes takes an hour to complete the export, A LONG time to wait especially if in the end you find a bug or need to change something and go through the entire waiting period again to change a small item.

However I was reading about enabling CUDA but I did not really understand if an approved CUDA card would help speed up export, or if it was just to improve video on the screen?

I’m pushing the budget as it is with the upgrade, so if I can avoid spending a $1000 on a CUDA approved card that would be great.

But if a CUDA card will vastly improve export of video, then I would spend the extra money.

    Thanks for your help.

    Rick

Yes, GPU acceleration is used for rendering for export, not just for previews.
