  documenting my tests: denoiser and scaled footage

  I often denoise 4k footage in a 2k timeline, and was concerned about getting the signal flow correct to end up with the cleanest image.

  So I ran some tests…
  (test footage was C300 Mk2)

  My assumption would be that it would be better for the denoiser to act on the 4k than on scaled footage.

  CLIP IMAGE SCALING
  whether the clip is set to fit at 100% vs crop at 50% seemed to make no difference. Processing appears to be the same.

  NODE PLACEMENT
  placing the denoiser at the very beginning (before LUT) seems to give cleaner results than putting it at the very end.

  RENDER at HD vs 4K
  (via “render at source resolution” option)
  Rendering the clip at HD was faster. And interestingly gave much better results. Which was the opposite of what I was expecting.
