Older versions of AE included some sample movies on the installation disc. Many of you may be familiar with these small QuickTime clips that showed some “before and after” shots of a little girl holding a miniature cat that glows, waving a magic wand, lifting a car over her head, etc., along with samples of other effects. I’m wondering where I can find documentation for these clips. I feel like I remember seeing such a thing, but I’m looking through my manuals and my install discs and I’m not finding anything. Am I mistaken? Aren’t there some explanations somewhere that describe what is happening in each of the clips. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t something to support the movie clips. Some of these would be rather cryptic to someone unfamiliar with AE.

Specifically, there’s a movie in that collection called “toeffect.mov” that shows a rowboat moving around the frame and disturbing a grid underneath it. Just wanted to know if there’s more going on there than meets the eye. The name of the movie is puzzling me. Not sure what “T.O.” might stand for. I have my own ideas of how I might achieve this effect, but I’m always interested in learning new techniques. If anyone knows where the PBMovies documentation might be, please let me know. Or if you want to make suggestions about replicating that effect, that’s fine too.

    Thanks.
