Note: I’m an FCP 7 user and don’t use FCPX…I was given an FCPX project file from a client. Client is in FCPX version 10.0.5. My FCPX version is 10.0.6. When I try to open the project file I get a dialogue box that reads…

The document “CurrentVersion.fcpproject” could not be opened. Open documents from within Final Cut Pro.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    RJ

You don’t actually “open” Final Cut Pro projects, per se. Quit FCPX. Place the entire project folder into “Final Cut Projects” in the root of your external drive, or if you’re using the internal system drive (which you shouldn’t be) in ~/Movies/Final Cut Projects. Then re-open Final Cut and you should see the project in your project library.
