when I’m playing out to digibeta from FCP 5 whit my decklink SDI card the audio are 2 frames ahead. I have two editsuits one whit Decklink Pro and one whit Decklink Extreme and it are the same problem in both suites. I’m using input SDI to video and also SDI input to the audio. I work in PAL.

I have tryed to reinstalle the BM driver, remove all plugins inn fcp, reset paremeter ram, use extern sync and have tryed whit sync from BM Y signal.

I rented a AJA IO to do a test and that works just fine, no sync problem. But I cant get the BM card to work in sync.

    What can I do?????

    EDIT A:
G5 dual 2.7 GHz whit 4 GB RAM
    OS X 10.4.2
    FCP 5.02
    Decklink extreme
    Decklink driver 5.0 (12 July 2005)
    Huge harddisk scsiraid (200 MB/sec)
    Sony DVW 500 (PAL)

    EDIT B:
G5 Dual 2.0 Ghz whit 3 GB RAM
    OS X 10.4.2
    FCP 5.02
    Decklink Pro
    Decklink driver 5.0 (12 July 2005))
    Huge harddisk scsiraid (200 MB/sec)
    Sony DVW 500 (PAL)

    Hi Morten,

I have spoken with Kristian who has been helping you with this problem via email. He has already verified that sync is working fine on our test suites in both 8-bit and 10-bit PAL.
    * Can you tell me which easy setup you have chosen in Final Cut Pro HD 5.0.2?

Please remove all PCI cards from your G5 except for the DeckLink card. Then create a new project in Blackmagic Deck Control using a Blackmagic PAL JPEG easy setup and configure it to capture to your internal hard disk.
    * Does the same problem still occur?

Please let us know either way and it would be great if you would continue to copy Kristian on your answers. If the problem does continue to occur, then we might ask you for a copy of your project file so that we can use it to attempt to replicate your problem on our test suite.

DVCPro 50, but I have tried in 10 bit 8 bit AND DV, and it’s the same.

Yes, I had also tried to put the card in to slot 4 (the top slut), whit same result: 2 frames audio advance.

I Just tried to do a play out from an old system disk:
FCP 4, OS X 10.3.8 and decklink driver 4.8 and that works perfect.

An other thing I noticed was that when i select decklink as video output in FCP 4 it automatically chose decklink audio. In FCP 5 it chooses the mac audio card as default.

    Hi Morten,

Thank you for your answers to my questions. On your Tiger system with Final Cut Pro HD 5.0.2, are you logging in with an Administrator account or just a User account? The reason for this question is your surprising observation that “In FCP 5 it chooses the mac audio card as default.” This is very strange as that should not be the case and we are baffled as to how this could even happen unless the preferences were manually changed in FCP5 to use the Mac’s built-in audio output.

Assuming that you are already using an Adminstrator account, I would like you to run a test by quitting out of all applications and then go in to System Preferences and create a new Administrator account. Log out of your existing account and log in to the new one. Now try using Final Cut Pro HD 5.0.2 in the new account and see if the same problems occur. For example, when you launch Final Cut Pro HD 5.0.2 and select a Blackmagic easy setup, does it output the audio through the DeckLink card as expected or does it still output audio through the built-in audio speakers of your Mac?

This test will tell us if there is something strange with the preference files in your normal account which are contributing to this problem.

Please let us know how you go and it would be great if you could continue to copy Kristian on your responses as he has been running tests in an attempt to replicate your problem and is familiar with the history of your problem.

    Hi Luke

I did the test this morning, and when I created a new user the A/V device was set to decklink, just as before. “The problem” commes if i change video output and goes back to decklink is choose “default” and not decklink audio.

The sync problem are still the same, so the result of the test are that it don’t help to create a new user.

    Hi Kristian and Loke
I think I have located the problem. I just start up FCP 5 I get the problems I told you about:

#The audio are advanced 2 frames

    # The A/V device select “default” and not decklink audio

    # I get this message when I will edit to tape:

The selected audio and video divice may not match: -Blackmagic PAL 8 bit
Please veryfy that audio and video outputs are externelly routed to the inteded divice(s)
    Do you want to proced?

If I launch Pro Tools 6.9.2 LE before FCP are launched the problem are gone.

When I do a edit to tape, FCP start to “writhe video in a few minuts” and the I puts to tape whit out any warning. Then the sync are a OK.

Is it possible to fix this in a driver update so Pro Tools and decklink don’t conflict?

    🙂 Morten
