I have found that when I make animated gfx in Motion and then bring the project file into FCP, I get extremely long renders, and overall sluggish performance.

I’m running a 3GH octocore, with 8 GB RAM, OS 10.5.6 and FCP 6.0.5, normally use ProRes HQ timelines

When I use the same gfx, but export out a lossless + alpha (even thou it doesn’t match my timeline settings), I get MUCH faster renders, and don’t notice any inherent sluggishness. So obviously whenever I make a revision, I go thru the export & re-render process, but this is still a smoother workflow for me.
Even exporting a prores version (to try to eliminate the need for render) seems to give me some issues, so I stuck with what was working.

How many members of the herd are getting similar results?

How many are using the Motion projects with no troubles, or in particular, slowdowns?

I think that’s it’s pretty unanimous that motion projects take forever to render in FCP. And unlike a simple file, if you make simple adjustments to it like scale or opacity, you have to rerender the whole thing.
