    1) If I have a number of audio or video clips side by side on a timeline and I want to add a constant power effect is there a way to apply this effect at once to all of them? I saw the storyboard dialogue box had an option but there must be another way.

2.) If you have an individual clip on the timeline and want to mark it in to out in one keystroke.

    I appreciate the help!

    Thank You for your input!

    No and No.

Constant Power transitions are added one at a time unless using Animate to Sequence. Use Page Down to get to each cut and use Ctrl-Shift-D to apply the default audio transition.

Clips on the timeline need to be trimmed one end at a time. I can’t even imagine how one keystroke could possibly be used.

by number 2 I think he is asking if you can set the range bar from in to out without having to drag each end individually.

Are you coming from Media 100, because these are both easy functions in that program (create range from selection & apply transition to range)

Why could you not manually add keyframes to achieve the same constant power transition and then copy the keyframes and paste them to all the clips?

you can copy and past attributes to multiple clips at once – I thought he was talking about transitions

I believe you are correct that he was asking about transitions, but wouldn

Re 1 if you’re talking about audio level you need to adjust one clip and then copy it and paste attributes to all the other clips.

Re 2 If you’re talking about sequence in and out and not work area bar you can do it in 2 keystrokes. Click on the desired clip and then use the default keyboard shortcut for: Application/Marker/Set Sequence Marker/In and Out Around Selection.

I changed this shortcut to Shift+A. I can’t remember if it initially had a shortcut or not, but it’s there.

    Hope that helps.

I have been needing to add audio dissolves over some cuts to smooth the audio transitions, mostly 2 frame centered on the cut kind of things. Or in other instances adding video effects presets on 1 cameras clips on a well chopped timeline. On my old ancient long gone Avid I could highlight and it would drop a effect every transition. This can be silly repetitive work if there is a shortcut. Regardless I thank everyone for their assistance on this post. I will check back.

Alex is on the right track with the sequence markers. I’m a Discreet and a Premier Pro user and discreet’s nomenclature is MARK CLIP. In premier pro I remapped my Z key by itself with no SHIFT or CONTROL the same way alex did and I use it alot. I just touch the clip and then hit Z and bang Ins and OUTS are set on the timeline.

Regarding transitions I’m totally with you. Discreet allows exactly what you want to do and I find it a very helpfull feature. Premier does not now, nor ever has had such a feature, to it’s detriment. Adobe if you’re listening please think about how important that is folks like Steve and I!
