  • Do XMP and AAF-MXF play well together?

I don’t know if this is the most appropriate place to post this. If anyone else has another idea where to post please let me know.

With the newest release of PP2.0 imminent according to various sources, it’s clear that Adobe bridge and XMP play key parts in Adobe’s strategy to be part of asset management systems. Now come the big questions in relation to other standards like MXF and AAF.

What happens if a file already has MXF-AAF header information? Can it be brought into a PP project? Is the MXF-AAF header data converted on the fly to be recognized by Bridge? Is the file header rewritten with the XMP data?

Can others use Bridge independently? Can you send XMP data to other database applications besides Bridge?

Lots of questions– How about some answers.

Did you ever have any success with this? I’m looking to incorporate AAF metadata into a Premiere workflow. Converting any tabled XML into an XMP format (embedded or sidecar) seems to be impossible. Any suggestions appreciated!
