    Hey

i Asked earlier about how to get a job from an older NLE to FCP, which i think i have figured out.

But Now i need to know this: i have several EDLS from timelines in my other job, and i want to import them, If i use CMX they seem to imposrt OK However each time I import an EDL it makes a folder of Master Clips (as it should). When FCP goes to recapture, will capture each master clip as a complete and separate file? or is it “smart” enough to capture a shot once, then point to it from the clips so that i dont have 5 copies of my inerviews on my system?

I ask this because as with all “versioned” type projects, there are common elements that would be redundant to have

i think the answer is the former, but i could be wrong. its happened before

    bee eph

Every EDL is specific to the timeline at the time the EDL was created. As such, each one will capture just what is on it. If the notes on the EDL are specific you could edit it before you import it and just capture what you need.
