    Hi all.

i am using currently Vegas 6.0 and started vegas with the 4.0 version
There is one thing that always beats me every time and i am not sure if there is any way around it.
after i am done with the editing project i render it and that take some times, up to 9 hours.
then i found that i made a mistake and i have to fix it and rerender the project once again for maybe another 9 hours ( 9 hours was the max i ever had to render).
my question is , there is any way to fix the problem itself( like typing misspell) and just render the 5 seconds and some how to patch it to the rendered finish project?
or the only way is to rerender the entire project each time i make changes to the editing ?

Happens to me all the time! I swear my eyes are oblivious to mistakes during editing, but then I watch the freshly rendered file, and notice tons of abrupt edits and misspelled text. Then there are always newly discovered problems when I watch the first burned DVD.

I don’t think there is a shortcut built in to Vegas to help. But you can just fix the problem, render the fixed secion, and then create a new Vegas session, insert the original flawed render, and patch your fixed section into it. Then when you re-render that, it should go pretty fast because it is just one long file with very few edits and no plug-ins.

This works best when you’re rendering an uncompressed file like an AVI, but in a pinch, I’ve done it with MPG2’s, and the final product looked fine.

It depends on what you’re rendering as. If DV-AVI, certainly. If MPEG2, no.

When I am done with the editing I render it to jpeg2 especially if it is going to be burn to a DVD.
Why would I render it to AVI first?
    Do I missing something.
Thank you SO MUCH for all of your replies.

    Hi Dror,

I use to render to mpeg2 for DVD’s, but for that paricular reason. I render to AVI now instead of Mpeg because mpeg is highly compressed and AVI is not. AVI is compressed when you render it in your authoring program as in DVD Authoring with DVD Architect 3 which I have. So I view over and over again in Vegas 6 and make your changes withot losing quality in AVI. Start thinking about rendering in sections and bring your sections into your authoring program. If you mess up on a certain section, just redo that section and your done. No more long renders. I hope this helps. If I told you wrong, I’ll here about this from my friends Gary, Ed, Ralph & Mike. Good luck!

Whether you render to MPEG2 or avi, the important thing is that the “mistakes”, whether they be spelling or general editing, were there BEFORE you rendered – obviously we all let the occasional one slip through, but Preview is really the way all these things should be checked, before rendering, especially if you have a 9 hour render.

    Hi Ralph

Thank you so much for your replay .
I understand what you wrote but I am not sure how to apply that using both Vegas and DVD architect.
If its not trouble for you , could you guide me step by step,
Or maybe there is a link you can point for me to look at.
    Again thank you so much.

    Hi Dror,

When your ready to render, in Vegas you go to File>render as>save as type (avi)
    I use the default template(uncompressed).
Make sure you check Stretch video to output frame size & check Save project makers in media file.
Always remember to highlight what you want to render if your rendering in sections. Get yourself a Vegas6 Tutorial. I have The Vegas6 Companion by Gary Kleiner along with the DVD Authoring with DVD Architect 3. Try it you’ll like it.
    Good Luck!

    Ralph
