    Cow-ites,

I am making film transfers to DNxHD 175 (or 1080i codec). I need to deliver XDCam 50 mxf files. I know MC 5 will read XCam files but can I transcode DNxHD 1080i to XDCam 50?

There seemed to be no options in the export menu.

    Thanks, Film Joe

You can, although just per sequence.
Mount an empty XDcam, or copy the XDcam files to the root of a drive.
(Avid will see it as XDcam)

Export to XDcam, and rename the MXF in the CLIP folder, otherwise it will be overwritten on the next export.

If you have to do a lot of clips, contact me direct.

    Bouke,

I’m not sure I was clear. We do not have an XCam drive or file or deck. We are transferring film to an Avid in Avid 115 DNxHD format. My question was, can an Avid file (standard mxf DNxHD) be exported/transcoded in XDCam 50 mxf format? I can not ‘mount’ a drive or a file as I do not start from an XDCam format.

Does this help clarify my question?

    Thanks, Film Joe

    You were clear.
    So whas i, i hope…
Copy the contents of an empty XDcam disc to the root of a drive, and Avid will see it as if it was an actual XDcam drive.

No need for an actual XDcam drive, you just need a few files.
(I have them somewhere, mail me direct if you want them)
