DNA like shape in Adobe AE

Is it possible to bend 3d layer shape like that in After Effects?I want to get 3d object similar to DNA shape.
Hope this has a solution

August 6, 2019 at 4:49 pmWith the default tools the short answer is no. The long answer is that you can have several layers positioned in such way that gives you the impression of that shape.
With third party plugins (Trapcode’s form or particular, VCP’s element 3d and so on )you could have not only the bending, but the shape itself (rendered apart from AE’s render pipeline though).
To get close to that photo example it would be easier to use a proper 3d application.

August 6, 2019 at 8:23 pmA very simple way would be use use the Cineware layer in AE. That gives you access to full 3D modeling tools. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were able to find a free 3D model in OBJ format online and simply import it.
