I built a 2-disk SATA RAID 0 for a dual G4 1.25 DeckLink SP system. We’re getting dissapointing transfer rates from the RAID as long as the DL card is in the computer. Remove it and the RAID performs much faster and as expected. It would appear that the DL card is hogging PCI bandwidth or that the G4 just doesn’t have enough bandwidth to go around. Am I trying to do too much with the older G4? BTW, it doesn’t matter which slots either of the cards occupy. I’ve tried numerous configurations and all results are the same.

I believe slots 1 & 3 share the same bus and 2 & 4 do the same. If you’ve moved them around still have bandwidth limitations, I’m not sure what the solution is. I’d try to put the DeckLink in Slot 1 and the other card in Slot 4 and see if that works.

Thanks Matt. I tried your suggestion and even more slot placement configurations but unfortunately with the same negative results. Take the DL SP out and the RAID screams. Put it in and the RAID slows down. Very dissapointing.
