  • DL extreme – blue channel missing from time to time

I have a DL extreme on a MAC. Starting about a year ago i’ve noticed that every once in awhile, when i capture footage via component, the picture goes ‘redish’. (i know, it’s been a long time but i’m finally ready to take care of this problem.) i’ve figured out through process of elimination that it’s the blue channel. To solve this problem, i can wiggle the breakout cable around and it’ll go back to normal, thus the reason i’ve kept putting this off and haven’t wanted to deal w/ it. Anyway, at first i thought that maybe there’s a short in the cable but now i’m starting to think that it’s the way the card is sitting in the slot and the weight of the cable is causing this. this literally started happening w/ only about 4 – 5 hours on the card (i only use it to capture footage for encoding purposes). has anybody heard or seen this? It’s slightly frustrating especially when you capturing long format stuff and it happens near the end. What can and should i do? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’d replace the cables first. Start with the easiest, and see if that solves it. Even good cables go bad…
