DivX ;-] MPEG 4 Low Motion AVI conversion to DV?
I have a bunch of AVI files of wildlife recorded to a hard-disk recorder from a security system that I want to convert to DV to use in a non-linear editing system.
The problem I have is that the AVI files have a series of dropped frames which cause the video to freeze every ten frames or so for about a second. Windows Media Player seems to be able to ignore these dropped frames but non of the conversion utilities I’ve tried is able to and they end up in my output.
I think the AVI’s use DivX 3.11 or Microsoft MPEG-4 version 3.
Has anyone run into a similar problem and been able to get editable footage from these codecs?

You could use VLC to transcode to another format – they implement those old codecs, and can write to something more modern. Not a lot of processing, but…
