I have one question about dither ..

Whilst i understand it is best practice to work in a high bit resolution environment when creating music, then convert down to 16 bit and add dither for mastering to a cd, how does this rule apply when editing audio that is already 16 bit and has probably already been dithered ?

Example, i want to make a remix of a song using an instrumental and an acapella which are both already 16 bit. Is it better to convert them to 24 or 32 bit when i import them into audition. and when i finish my project to reduce to 16 again ?

If so do i add dither when importing the mp3’s as well as when i bounce my final mixdown ?

    Please advise 🙂
