I may be off loading R3D files onto a Mac and normally work on PCs. I haven’t had a lot of experience with R3D files either and can’t find many guides, so can anyone give me any direction on how I’d physically do it, like what cable to use, what type of hard drive, etc. Of course the file management is another issue and I’m reading up on that from Red’s website, which is very helpful.

Drives no difference really between Mac & PC. Drive format on Mac is HFS+ unless it’s the new Catalina OS which is a new variant.

However, all these questions need to be directed to the post people who will have to deal with your work. Please ask them about drives and formats. Cables will be also specific to the drives used and the Mac you are using. Maybe Thunderbolt, maybe USB-c, maybe USB3.1 .

I used to DIT for a few features and mostly RED files.
The easiest format to work with IMHO.
It depends on you and which platform you are comfortable with.
In the end, I just had to deliver data to production and most of the time it was Mac-based.
Last summer, this one DIT (I was Data Wrangler/Assembly Editor) was using these SSD drives for delivery. I used a Sonnet Tempo PCI card in a Thunderbolt chassis.
That went smoother than I anticipated.
There are tons of decent apps for DIT workflows that help.
I read a lot on Pomfort but haven’t had to chance to use it.
    Some colleagues love that one.
