    I just landed a feature gig and the distributor passed over some specs for the HD render. This is great except I don’t know what they’re mean. Here are a few:

    Video (Luminance) Level:
    MAX: 714 mV
    MIN: 630 mV

    Horizontal Blanking
    MAX: 11.2 µsec
    MIN: 10.1 µsec
    1080/59.94 : 3.7 µsec

    Prior to Resolve I’ve always worked in IRE units. What do these units mean and where can I learn more about the scopes in Resolve? Thanks!

    u will have to have a external video scope which shows video range .
    resolve only shows data range .
    may be a blackmagic ultrascope,omnitek or a techtroniks waveform moniter in which u can switch between ire and milli volts

    I know external scopes would be best but is there a way to interpret the built-in scopes to achieve what they’re looking for? Does anyone know the relationship between mV and the 0-1023 scale of video? Sorry for the newb question.

    Side note: Does anyone have experience with the BM Ultrascope? Is it the best value for the money?

    I use the Ultrascope and it’s great…mostly. It’s very cheap ($1,700 for a turnkey setup from B&H, I did mine from ebay for maybe $1,200) and accurate and absolutely worth having a dedicated 1080p display just for ease of sight. What is less awesome is that in the year I’ve had them, they really haven’t made any improvements and have left out what should be easy options (changing the color of the guidelines lines on the vectorscope so you can see the center over your image data, or additional guidelines on the waveforms and vectorscope, or the ability to rearrange the scopes…) I’d also love to see 2K resolution and some Digital Cinema related functions, not sure if those would require new hardware…
