    Hi!

I’ve been asked very nicely by my friend to help sort out an fx shot for them. This shot involves a 3d tornado of particles revealing an actor. I am very capable of sorting out removing the actor from the background and compositing in 3d however my main problem is with trapcode particular. Unfortunately i am not very proficient with any 3d tools apart from blender, and after several hours of tweaking could not get the glowing energy feel to my new particle tornado. I have come up with a method of rotating the camera and such, i just cannot get the hole in the middle, or the inverted funnel shape. Also information on how to render a zdepth map in after effects might be useful for an idea I have, thanks in advance!

thanks for the link, i’ve sent the tutorial before but i didn’t think to use particle world in it because i was taking a bit of inspiration from his speed particles tutorial or something, because i liked the look that the particles in particular give off wiht motion blur etc, ive mamaged to come up witha basic system using his 3d orbit preset and a bit of rotation applied to the emitter randomly, and also using child particles, but thanks anyway ill refresh my memory and see if i can gte the particles in cc particle world looking better 🙂 much appreciated!
