  • distorting the location line of a gradient

    Hello.
I have a gradient, applied as an image mask, that I’m using to change the opacity of ONE side of a shape over time.
It works – but as the bezier is a curve, I wanted to distort the ‘location’ (the name Motion uses to describe of the central point of the gradient) to fit the shape much better.

I wandered if anyone could help me do this, or think of another way to achieve the effect?
    Thanks Dan

You could try using a Bulge to add some curvature the the gradient. Alternatively you could use a radial gradient but it would be less successful for what I think you want.

    Here’s a much better idea:

Create two color solids one for each side of your gradient.

Create a curved mask for the upper layer.

Add a directional blur to the mask along the axis of the gradient and increase as required.

    Very controllable.

Thank you! I just tried it now, at the very end of the project and it worked really well. :o)
Took me a while to work out exactly whet you meant, but I got it.????
