Hi everyone, I fear I know the answer to this one, but what the hey!

We recorded a 2hr benefit concert and were lucky enough to get a feed from the sound guy which recorded on a little Zoom recorder.

Most of the recording is good, but about 15 mins of it for some reason the solo piano track is too loud and I was wondering if there’s any (cheap!) way to at least make it less hard on the ears?

    it’s listenable, just… rough and tiring.. 🙂

Also… while I have you…. the feed we got was two tracks but for all intents and purposes, it’s mostly mono. I was thinking maybe of adding a tiny delay between the L&R channel to make it nicer to listen to, but I cannot seem to figure out how to do this in Vegas using the delay tool.

    thanks for any tips!!

Take a look at https://www.diamondcut.com/store/index.php?main_page=page_2 (trial version)

This audio restoration tool has a clipping repair function. (at least older versions did)

If your audio is not too bad this may help.

As far as the delay is concerned I would look for a free stereoizer VST plugin.

I’ve got iZotope RX2 so if you can upload 30 sec. or so of it to Dropbox, I’ll be glad to give it a shot.
If you’ve never used Dropbox, it’s a free file sharing service and the above link gets each of us an extra 250 MB. of space.

Andy, I ran it through all the Declipper options in iZotope and saved them to a zipped file for you.

I have a tin ear when it comes to music but based on what I see when I drop them on a Vegas timeline, the “extreme analog” ones look the best.
i.e. they now look like a waveform instead of a square wave 🙂

Andy, I have no idea what happened so I’ll try it again.
Do a right-click – Save as on the link.

Something weird is going on here as I can’t even upload anything to my work FTP site.
I’ll bring the files into work with me tomorrow and post a link.

As promised, hopefully this link works 🙂
It’s the folder with all the different rendered options in there.
As I said earlier, I think that the “extreme_analog” one sounds best.
