  • Distorted, flickery playback in canvas – Retina MBP and FCP7

    Hey guys,

I’ve recently purchased a Retina MBP (2.7Ghz, 16Gb, 256Gb). I’ve installed FCP7 and I am editing ProRes 422 footage with a normal data rate of around 111mbps. The footage is connected via firewire 800 to an external Lacie 1tb drive.

Unusually, I’m getting a very slight breakup of the image on shots which have any kind of movement. Flickery thin lines of distortion will appear across the video for a split second while the movement occurs. I’ve never experienced this before on any other mac with similar footage and settings and was just wondering if anybody had any idea what this could be?

    Sequence settings native to footage-
    1920×1080
    square pixels
    no field dominance
    Apple prores 422

    Many thanks guys …..

I’m having the exact same problem in FCP7 and Quicktime on a 2010 MacPro 2 x 2.93 GHz, 48 GB ram, ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB graphics card, running OSX 10.08.3. Did you figure out what it was, or how to solve it?
