Dissolves cause motion artefacts
I am having a problem with simple cross dissolve transitions when applied to stills such as titles (generated in Boris Title 3d) or jpegs. When the transition starts the still moves its location by a little bit. This is also true for additive dissolves. If I “handmake’ a transition by keyframing opacity everything is OK – but of course I like the convenienve of using the readymade transiitons. I am editing in NTSC anamorphic DV. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Are the dissolves rendered? Check to see if a green line is in the sequence about the dissolve clip. If so then render and see if there are still issues with playback. Also check on an external monitor, not just the canvas.

The motion shift is still there after rendering, and its visibile on both the canvas and an external monitor. Also its true with EVERY still that I put a transition on, including titles. Huge pain in the neck since I normally put a 5 frame dissolve at the start and end of every subtitle – and there are about a million of them in this film.
Has anyone else seen this? Fixes???

I believe I’m having a similar issue and was wondering if anyone could help me.
I’m working in FCP with Animation files exported from After Effects. We are trying to do simple dissolves from black at the start of each clip, but are sometimes getting a colour pop just before the clip reaches full opacity.
Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?
